What is ceramic dust and why do we choose it in Allumer collections?
Shari
Every allumer object is a story in physical form. But also a conscious choice. We choose ceramic dust because it's more than a material – it's a manifesto for calm, sustainability and imperfect beauty. In a fast-paced world, slow materials speak differently. More gently.
What is ceramic dust?
It is a mineral mixture, fine as flour, obtained by grinding ceramics or similar natural compounds. This powder is mixed with liquid to become fluid, then it is poured into molds. After complete drying, the objects are hand-polished, becoming velvety, solid and unique.
Why do we use it?
-
for its velvety and imperfect, almost organic texture
-
for natural resistance and soothing weight
-
for a soft, matte look that does not reflect light but delicately absorbs it
-
because it integrates naturally into any space
What makes it different?
Unlike traditional ceramics, ceramic powder retains the imprint of the casting and grinding. Each tray, holder or container is slightly different – not only in shape, but also in shade, in touch. It is an invitation to authenticity.
How do you maintain it?
The products are not for food or water use, but can be easily cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. They are decorative objects – that is, objects of emotion. Don't hide them, integrate them into your rituals.
When you choose an object made of ceramic dust, you choose more than a decoration. You choose a form that slows down the pace. A fragment of gesture. A fragment of intention. You choose Allumer.
